Class begins with a Zoom call at 10:00am Pacific time on Tuesday, January 4, 2021. Your instructor will reach out via email a few days before class with additional details.

After the 10:00am daily Zoom calls, the rest of the course is Self-Paced  

Course Schedule

This course runs for four days, from 10:00am through 6:00pm PT, Tuesday, January 4 through Friday, January 7, 2021. 

The Knowledge Coop’s Pre-licensure Education (PE) is online and instructor-led. You’ll work through videos, activities, knowledge checks, class discussions, and homework assignments.

Each class day begins and ends with a class discussion over Zoom, and there are additional discussions scheduled throughout the week. To receive credit for taking this course, the NMLS requires your attendance at all discussions.

 

Course Content

This course contains 20 hours of material designed to fulfill all of the pre-licensure education requirements for the federal requirements of all states. You may also need to take state PE in order to gain a license in a specific state.

Our 20-hour PE will prepare you to begin working in residential mortgage lending. We’ll guide you through the NMLS-approved pre-licensure topics with a fresh and investigative approach.

You’ll learn about:

  • The federal laws that directly impact your job and the way you do business
  • Traditional and non-traditional mortgage products and features
  • Being an ethical loan originator
  • The loan origination process
  • Analyzing borrower data

Our SAFE Exam Prep is included! 

Access to course content, study guides, SAFE Exam Prep, and our plentiful resource library will be available to you until you pass the SAFE exam. 

 

Meet Your Instructors

Ken Perry is the President and Founder of Knowledge Coop, a training and consulting firm that specializes in mortgage education. As a 22-year veteran of the mortgage industry, Ken’s vast interactions training mortgage professionals inspired him to pursue his dream of bringing positive change to the mortgage industry on a much larger scale. The Knowledge Coop is an approved course provider of the National Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS) and is dedicated to bringing a unique, not-what-you-expect style of education to clients by mixing passion and humor with extreme knowledge.

Sawyer Jones came to The Knowledge Coop shortly after graduating with a degree in Business Administration from Biola University. He has lived in Europe and North Africa and speaks French fluently. Sawyer has also been involved in the real estate and property management industries. Sawyer enjoys problem-solving and thinking creatively, and strives to bring that to bear on a daily basis at the Knowledge Coop through creating engaging content.

John Hines has been working in the financial industry for over 20 years, and has spent the last 15 years specifically working in the mortgage industry; he has held roles in operations, sales, and the secondary market. John is passionate about facts/learning and helping others gain success in their career path. He currently lives in Vancouver Washington, and enjoys traveling, trying new food, and networking with interesting people.

Scott Genzer has played many roles over his career– loan officer, branch manager, and executive vice president for mortgage banks in California and Florida. In 2007 thinking he was retiring, Scott moved to Colorado to enjoy his passion for skiing and the outdoors. He was recruited  to train and teach MLOs the rules and regulations of the industry in 2014, combining his passion for lending, humor, fun, and training. When not working, you’ll find Scott skiing Beaver Creek, Vail, playing golf and enjoying the outdoors of Colorado.
