Jim Smith
Jim was born and raised in a small town in Michigan called Williamston. Married in 1993, Jim and his wife Jamie have raised 2 boys and a girl. All 3 of whom are now college graduates. Jim got into the mortgage business as an Underwriter for a small sub-prime lender in Detroit. Moving to an AE position, Jim thrived at a few lenders in the 2000’s including Franklin Funding and Wilmington Finance. At the onset of the crash, Jim was asked to help start up an FHA Wholesale division at a small lender in Royal Oak Michigan. Going through the crash Jim felt lucky to have landed at a small, family-based lender.
Coming out of the crash and into the 2010’s, Jim grew frustrated with the lack of education in the marketplace. Seeking something new, he ended up at AllRegs, where he spent the last 7 years. The professionalism of the staff at AllRegs was evident and the products they had were very much needed in the industry at the time. They had tasked Jim with being an education specialist, one of only 4 in the country.
When Ellie Mae bought AllRegs in 2014, Jim stayed with them as an AE representing all AllRegs products including Publishing and Mortgage related guideline products, along with Education and became a Circle of Excellence member as well for excelling in sales.
Over time, Education has become more of a passion than ever before and Jim jumped at the chance to work with The Knowledge Coop. The Knowledge Coop’s content is light years ahead of anything in the marketplace today. Video based courses and graphical LMS systems allow them to showcase enriching mortgage education in an engaging and entertaining way! Ken Perry and the entire staff at Knowledge Coop are the ultimate education and content professionals and I am thrilled to be the National Sales Director for such an advanced company.
