When Utah reduced its state-specific NMLS pre-licensing education requirement from 15 hours to 5 hours earlier this year, we started hearing from MLOs asking when Knowledge Coop would offer a course to meet the new requirement.
We're excited to say that course is here!
Knowledge Coop's new Utah-DRE SAFE 5-Hour NMLS course is now available, giving MLOs an online, self-paced way to complete Utah's state-specific education requirement and take the next step toward adding a Utah license.
It's also the first look at an updated approach to state PE from Knowledge Coop, designed to make required education more engaging, relevant, and connected to the mortgage career you're building.
Our Utah course takes the same real-world approach Knowledge Coop has always brought to mortgage education and gives the experience a modern update.
Hosted by Ken Perry and Annie Mellor, the course uses conversational, podcast-style discussions to break down Utah laws and regulations with the context of real mortgage experience. Practical examples and scenarios help connect what you're learning to the work of an MLO, while knowledge checks reinforce important concepts along the way.
We've also added more state-specific twists throughout the course to break up the required hours and keep you engaged. The goal is to make five hours of Utah PE feel less like working through a licensing requirement and more like learning from people who know the mortgage business.
The course is 100% online and self-paced, so you can complete your Utah PE when it works for your schedule.
Effective March 24, 2026, the Utah Division of Real Estate reduced its state-specific MLO pre-licensing education requirement from 15 hours to 5 hours.
MLO applicants seeking licensure through the Utah Division of Real Estate now complete 25 total hours of NMLS-approved pre-licensing education, compared with 35 hours under the previous requirement.
